Meshing is the division of a part one wants to simulate (eg heat distribution, stress buildup after application of force) into small parts called cells. For a 2D part these cells are triangles or rectangles, while for a 3D part they can be polyhedral. Both of these have well defined corner points, which we call nodes, with lines running between the nodes. Simulation analysis software will have a component to draw parts, and a component to divide this part into cells, which is the meshing component. Only after this has been done, can the analysis start. The quality of the analysis will depend on the quality of the mesh.
