Business Angel é um investidor privado que realiza investimentos em oportunidades emergentes (por exemplo, start-up ou early stage) e participa nos projetos com smart money, ou seja, além da capacidade financeira, também contribui com a sua experiência e network de negócios. Para os empresários em início de atividade, os business angels podem, assim, ser considerados como uma espécie de padrinhos, que contribuem com capital em troca de uma participação no negócio, tal como no capital de risco.
